As noted elsewhere on this site, people often end up doing very different things from the ones they expected. Sometimes childhood brings dozens of ideas on what to do when I grow up all of which seem absurd once the growing up is done. As also noted elsewhere, you offer yourself the best chance of doing something rewarding if you identify and develop the skills you have and plan in order to match your values with a career. You may have heard the expression that has something to do with 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration? Its basically saying that hard work will get you a long way. Similarly, you make your own destiny. Now, before I go any further, let me just imagine myself reading this as a student...first, I probably couldnt have been bothered to read this far and if I had I would have assumed it had nothing to do with me and that it was all frankly rubbish. So let me just say that YOU (yes you the cocky so and so, whose parents are loaded and thinks that things will just fall into place) have a lot to learn about getting on with people, about respect, about humility! And YOU (yes you who didnt get very good qualifications and thinks that youll never amount to anything) have so much potential to develop; do not despair do your best and youll be surprised how far youll go! And YOU (yes the rest of you) Good Luck! Well anyway, with such musings out of the way, let me tell you a little bit about Route 2. If in route one you were encouraged to reflect about who you are and where you are going, route 2 is about the possible destinations. Information about different types of companies, courses and a section to show to your parents if they think you should get a real job straight out of college rather than teaching English in Asuncion or back-packing across Asia. The navigation should be fairly straight-forward but please DO tell me if it is not! Engage! |
