Student Reflection<< prev || next >> The university currently has no institutionally developed service or tool that allows for individual student reflective activities. However the university supports the use of 'blogs' for certain learning and teaching activities. The term ‘blog’ is an contraction of ‘web-log’. It is a form of online journal where the person keeping the blog (a blogger) records their thoughts (blogging). Blogs are updated on a regular basis, with entries in chronological order. Readers can usually comment on the blog entries. A general description of a blog is as a type of website where entries are made (such as a journal/diary, a commentary on news or information on a particular subject), and displayed in reverse chronological order (most recent entries first). They can incorporate text, images and links, and while they are usually text-based, they can also be made up of photographs, videos and audio. You may also wish to consider alternatives such as student discussion and collaboration. There is also a comparison table available of Blogs and Wikis. The following pages discuss Blogs in Learning and Teaching and using LiveJournal - a supported blogging service.
