International Relations

IR Society

Aims and Objectives

The aim of the International Relations society is to bring together people from a variety of disciplines who share a common interest in Global Politics. Our main objective is to provide a forum for academic debate so ideas and knowledge can be shared. We will host guest speakers from a variety of backgrounds and raise awareness of international issues. An objective of the IR society is to forge links with other bodies such as other university groups, governmental and non-governmental actors, the impetus here is to create a network of knowledge. We will also host and arrange fieldtrips to conferences and places of interest. Not only will this society arrange academic events but we aim to combine academia with social gatherings such as film showings, parties and team building events creating a less formal arena to discuss world politics/issues. We also plan to run fundraising events for the society itself, as well as working in conjunction with other registered charities.
