 eric: regions

regional focus
Despite the fact that environmental problems are frequently described as global problems, NGOs, IGOs and TNCs frequently have projects or impacts related to specific regions. One thing you should bear in mind in your research is the extent to which different regions have different characteristics and may be more or less important. Is it important that Antarctica be maintained as an unspoilt wilderness? Are Brazilian trees or US cars more important when considering the environment? Are environmental regulations causing TNCs to choose specific locations?

"nuclear power...is so complex and dangerous that it HAS to be surrounded by secrecy and private police. It cannot be owned, controlled and understood by ordinary people; only by a hierarchy of experts and managers backed by the massive resources at the command of the state and big corporations."
